Who Should Attend?
This Telescopic Handler training course is designed for Plant Operators who require practical and theory training and / or assessment on a Telescopic Handler.

The Aim
To train and assess delegates’ practical skills, theoretical knowledge and to identify and eliminate, any bad habits in the safe operation of a Telescopic Handler.

Additional Info
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course.

For training held at your own location, please ensure that the classroom you make available has a 240v power supply and is a suitable size for the number of delegates attending. Please ensure that the practical area has been risk assessed, is free from harm and is suitable for training.

Course Content:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Roller use.
  • Prepare the Roller for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Storage and transport of machinery attachments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.
  • Area for theory testing and relevant paperwork
  • Pre start checks
  • Access to the manufacturers handbook on site
  • Access to varying terrain
  • Access to a lorry bed with headboard for load and unloading task
  • Loading out tower at 75% or more of lift trucks total reach capacity
  • 3 loads of varying weight
    • Load A must be no less than 50 % of the lift trucks capacity
    • Load B must be equal sized loads and stackable ( ie pallets of blocks) X3
    • Load C must be less than the lift capacity of the truck at full horizontal reach
  • Area for chicane and restrictions

(The candidate must be seen using the attachment on site by the instructor at the time of the test to then be added on to the NPORS card)

Mindset training will not currently test on 360 Telehandlers due to extra risk and lack of instructors experience.
